Mobile water systems

Taking water with you is virtually obligatory if you use water fed poles. There are a number of tanks available and these are usually adapted for mobile us. Water is heavy (1 litre weighs 1 kilogram at 4°C) and its movement can adversely affect the way a vehicle or trailer handles on the road. Most tanks have integrated baffles to stabilise the water. The way the tank is mounted and positioned is also very important related to the vehicles dimensions and payload.

As previously indicated not all the technology in this industry has been introduced successfully and sadly mobile tanks have a chequered history. This has resulted in some worrying publicity and calls for standardisation and codes of practice within the water fed pole industry. We would like to emphasise that due to the techniques employed, the precautions taken and the advice sort, we have no concerns about any tank we have ever fitted.

Aquafactors uses a tank specifically designed for the industry. It is thermo-crafted from a special polypropylene. The frameless format is lightweight and dimensionally compact giving emphasis to the water carrying capacity, which is proportionally high, compared with competitors tanks. We are pleased to report that the Specialist Vehicle Division of Land Rover have adopted the same construction techniques and are mounting similar tanks into their four-wheel drive, all terrain, vehicles for the Fire Service and Forestry Commission. With this pedigree the road testing has been stringent to meet exacting standards in strength and performance. We are so pleased with the concept that the tank is patented.

Vehicle payload is highly important related to tank size and positioning. Manufacturers compute their figures differently. Some include a passenger and fuel weight. We have all the manufacturers’ updated specifications and therefore we can state exactly the right tank size for a particular vehicle.
